25.5 weeks!

Holy moly, I am coming up on the last trimester! CRAZY! I haven't even thought about strollers or carseats or anything...I just have clothes :) If you have any suggestions or thoughts, please share. Also, I'm interested to know if anyone has attempted cloth diapers....

Here are the goods:

Can you tell a difference??

Airplane Safety

Having done several engineering internships for Boeing, and having grown up in Seattle, I have a particular interest in any airplane news. As many people might have noticed, there have been a rash of crashes in the last two months after a long spell of none.

One incident (not a crash) that most of you probably did not hear about happened last friday. As it turned out, one of my coworkers was on that flight with his two little boys and wife. I haven't spoken to him much about it yet, but it must have been a pretty scary experience.

Being an engineer and having seen the inside of Boeing, I know and appreciate all the details that are considered when designing and building and airplane. Considering how many flights take place each day and how many different planes are in the air, they have amazing records. But when something goes wrong, you don't want to be anywhere near them.

At any rate, happy flying! And just remember, the chances of something actually going wrong on your flight are probably 0.0001%.

Published!!!

After 10 long months I finally got my masters thesis manuscript published! It was a very long and at times painful process and I'm glad its done. Britney is EXTREMELY glad too, she was getting as sick of everything as I was, and she wasn't even the main author. She did help me a ton with it and was a huge support through it all. Thanks babe!

Chile Vacation!!!

We finally made it to Chile!!!

From Chile

It was a great trip! We had a great balance of tourist/vacation and old mission things. Most of the time was really relaxing and we just went where we felt like going. Here are some highlights:

  • Hiking up Cerro San Cristobal near downtown Santiago
  • Finding the memorial marker for Omner Pratt, Parley P. Pratt’s infant son who died while he was there as missionaries in 1851
  • Eating Berlines (pastries) in San Bernardo like I used to do as a missionary
  • Relaxing in the shade reading the Bourne series in various parks and cities (Britney: Bourne Ultimatum, me: Bourne Supremacy)
  • Eating excellent Chilean Empanadas
  • Finding old friends and reconnecting with them finally
  • Getting a chaco tan
  • Taking Britney through the beautiful countryside
  • Seeing how much had changed and how much was still the same

It was hard to leave Chile again, especially when the weather was so nice and we were returning to frozen Boston. I don’t know if I will make it back again, now that we are starting a family, but it was amazing to get to go back even though it wasn’t as long as I would have liked to be there. I loved every minute of it! I think Britney even enjoyed it even though she didn’t understand a lot. She was a very good sport about it.

halfway!

We have officially hit the 20 week, or halfway mark! These admittedly are not the best pictures of me...I had just taken a nap. Makin' a baby is hard work :)

This little girl is quite the active one...she will kick me if I lay in the wrong position! I feel her often throughout the day, I feel like especially when I am playing with my clients. I think she wants to come out and play!

we found out...

.....and it's a GIRL!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!! Bring on the pink! (surprisingly most guessed boy!)

We just got back from our ultrasound...what a cool cool experience! The baby is looking great and is apparently very active. I could have guessed that...I've already been feeling her move around a TON. She did a somersault for us while we were watching (my mom claims she is taking after me already...a performer :)) and also kicked a ton, moved her arms and hands, got into a ball and put her thumb in her mouth. It was really really cute! It makes so much more sense to look at the "still" photos pictures when you see the baby moving before hand. Here are a couple side shots:

We are so so excited! I was kind of thinking it was a girl, but maybe because I was kind of hoping to dress up the little one too....anyway, the baby looks healthy so we are so happy!

Here is the bump at 15.5 weeks (when I first felt like I got a bump)

And today...18 weeks! (4.5 months)
I know...not much of a difference, but I can feel it :)
